About Us

The Herbert River RSL (Returned and Services League) in Ingham was founded in 1921.

The history of the RSL (Returned and Services League) in Ingham and the Herbert River district is deeply intertwined with the region’s involvement in both World War I and World War II, as well as its ongoing support for veterans and their families. The RSL branches in regional areas like Ingham provide a sense of community and support for those who served in the Australian Defence Forces.

The Herbert River district, including Ingham, saw significant enlistment during both world wars, with many locals serving in the military. In the years following these wars, the Returned and Services League became an important organization for veterans to gather, commemorate fallen comrades, and provide ongoing support for veterans and their families.

The Ingham branch of the RSL, like other regional branches, likely evolved from a community effort to support returned soldiers and their families, offering not only a social space but also advocacy, services, and a place for remembrance. Over the years, the club has served as a hub for socializing and celebrating the community’s connection to its military history while also providing a venue for a range of local events and activities.

Today, the Herbert River RSL remains a key part of Ingham’s social fabric, where members and guests can enjoy recreational activities, social events, and live entertainment while honoring the region’s military heritage.
